Dublin has
so much to offer to the locals and the tourists and I am so happy that I´ve
been experiencing this. The pubs, the history, the museums, Guinness, Jameson
whiskey and it´s only about an hour and 15 minutes by plane from London!
If you
continue walking down Dame Street you´ll find Dublin Castle and Christ Church
Cathedral, two other main attractions in Dublin. And not far from Dame Street,
you´ll find the infamous Temple Bar District. Packed with locals and tourists,
this is the perfect place to find a good restaurant and a local pub to spend
the rest of the evening. Because we were only there for a few days, we obviously
did not visit all the pubs, which I´m sure some will do while visiting Dublin,
but this is definitely a place to visit. It is very festive and a great place
to meet other people.
We found
another pub that we kind of fell in love with – The Church. This is a
restaurant and a pub, which used to be a church. And it was absolutely amazing!
The food was great, and not very expensive, and they had a great bar where you
could get almost anything you wanted to drink, and they had live music and a
Riverdance show. We ended up having dinner here the day we arrived and it
really was the perfect place to start the holiday. And we actually ended up
eating here before going back to London as well.
We can´t
forget Guinness Store House! Guinness is Irelands most popular drink and you
simply cannot visit Dublin without spending a couple of hours at Guinness Store
House. Because this is such a popular attraction, I will be dedicating a blog
post just for Guinness in a few days.
I am not a
big fan of whiskey, but I do like a good Irish Coffee, and the only way to make
a good Irish Coffee is with Jameson Whiskey. Because Dublin is so famous for
all the good drinks, we dedicated one of the days to drinking, so after
visiting Guinness Store House we visited Jameson Distillery. And they had a
fantastic Irish Coffee!
If you are
interested in literature, then you have probably heard of the famous Irish author
James Joyce. His most famous book is Ulysses and his short story collection
Dubliners. And you can also visit the James Joyce Cultural Centre, which is
very interesting if you are interested in literature.
I could
probably write so much more about Dublin because I loved the atmosphere in this
city and all it has to offer. If you haven´t been to this great island, then
you really should. And it is perfect when combining it with a trip to the Cliffs of Moher.
